Supervisor, Payroll Implementation
As the Payroll Supervisor, you will create a "WOW" experience when leading team interactions with external and internal customers by consistently exceeding expectations. Under minimal supervision and with independent judgment and decision making, you will plan, direct and coordinate the activities associated with the new client transition and delivery of payroll and related services that result in client retention, growth and satisfaction, while supporting sales prospecting efforts by attending prospect informational meetings and interfacing with the sales staff. The Supervisor will develop, coach, mentor and lead payroll team members for sustained individual and team performance, as well as identify, develop, recommend and implement process improvements that result in improved efficiency and effectiveness for the accurate and timely delivery of payroll and related services to client companies.
Responsibilities:
Business Acumen—
· Customer satisfaction and retention - monitor client satisfaction indicators via quality service checks and service observations of staff to ensure client satisfaction. Monitor and analyze quality of service and client termination data. Interface with Team Managers and corporate departments to support actions and initiatives which improve region-wide client retention
· Customer interactions - participate in client meetings via phone and in person when necessary to support client's perception of the value derived from our services. Demonstrate effective business communication skills, to facilitate effective service and service recovery with clients
· Strategic thinking - probe, gather and analyze client needs pertaining to payroll processing, reporting, team loads and day-to-day operations of the payroll team
· Business level consulting - understand a business's financial operation relating to payroll and accounting for small to mid-sized business operations from an owner/payroll contact/on-site supervisor/CPA perspective to make business decisions and give guidance to clients, peers and direct reports
· Support process and audit efforts to ensure integrity and accountability for Sarbanes-Oxley compliance
Supervisory/Management—
· Responsible for interview and selection process for team
· Create and maintain effective teams
· Establish and support team goals and objectives, including but not limited to:
o CPP certification of self and staff
o CPP support through class facilitation
o Performance goals for professional improvement of self and staff
· Conduct performance evaluations and development plans
· Conduct formal and informal coaching and counseling
· Facilitate new hire on-the-job training and orientation into team environment
Other Responsibilities:
· Act as backup to Payroll Manager
· Assist in the accomplishment of Administaff company goals
· Help other employees to accomplish Administaff company goals
· Participate in the Disaster Recovery plan
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have a High School diploma or equivalent and 5 to 8 years of experience in a related field required with 2 to 4 years prior payroll supervisory experience strongly preferred. CPP Certification and Bachelor’s degree preferred. The Payroll Supervisor will have customer service experience in a team environment, exceptional communication, decision making and time management skills, as well as proficiency use of Microsoft Office programs and ability to learn other application programs.

Knowledge/Skill - Support the design, plan and implementation of Payroll related programs and policies to ensure compliance with federal, state and local laws and regulations and that result in client-focused solutions. Plan and accomplish goals. Assist team with difficult client issues seeking support from Manager/Director, as appropriate. Recommend changes to products or services based on customer and staff feedback. Prepare reports for upper management.

Lead defined payroll teams to enable the client to readily identify the value that was derived as a result of the Administaff services performed. Recommend changes to products or services to fulfill customer needs. Maintain all necessary tracking mechanisms and make recommendations to improving standards and measurements.
Accountability to Client's Value Perception - Ensure team maintains effective relationships with the client by consistently demonstrating a complete understanding of the client's needs, expectations and business objectives. Recommend approaches and processes that achieve optimal results and are perceived as valuable by the client.
Accountability to Team Performance - Ensure customer satisfaction through the delivery of value-tied payroll services that result in client satisfaction, retention, and growth. Exhibit and establish an expectation of communication by payroll personnel with service teams regarding pertinent service issues, needs and strategies. Identify and recommend process improvements and enhanced operational policies and implement approved processes and policies while focusing on applicable laws, regulations and/or policies pertaining to payroll processing and administration.
Internal Relationship Management - Build, maintain and promote effective highly functional relationships with team members, peers and their teams, sales staff and corporate team members. Ensure optimal collaboration between team members in payroll, orientation and service. Demonstrate proficient time management and organizational skills in coordinating communication and service affecting clients and team members.
Leadership - Effectively implement and maintain high performance Payroll practices within the defined payroll teams relative to interviewing and selection, establishing individual and team goals and objectives, performance evaluation and development, formal and informal coaching and counseling and other practices. Identify and participate in training and development activities to increase knowledge, expertise and effectiveness. Exhibit and demonstrate customer focused solutions and communications that result in positive customer experience.
